DESCRIPTION
As a DevOps Engineer, you’ll be instrumental in designing, building and maintaining the robust infrastructure that powers our data initiatives. You’ll champion the implementation of cutting-edge tools and processes to streamline deployments, enhance security, and foster continuous integration and delivery in a cost-effective manner. Your deep expertise in building and managing infrastructure as code, specifically using Terraform within the Amazon Web Services (AWS) environment, will be critical in supporting our data pipelines and analytics platforms. Collaborating closely with our Data Engineering team and IT, you’ll play a key role in deploying new data products, managing our cloud infrastructure, and optimizing associated processes. Your keen attention to detail, exceptional problem-solving skills, and a customer-centric approach will be essential to your success in enabling our data-driven products and strategy.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Contribute to the build and maintenance of robust Big Data analytics environments.
- Ensure the reliability, security, and currency of our product infrastructure through proactive maintenance and updates.
- Lead the technical execution of deployments and rollouts, ensuring smooth and efficient releases.
- Continuously improve and optimize our CI/CD pipelines for maximum efficiency and speed.
- Partner with our Data Engineers to define infrastructure and security requirements for new data pipelines and products, incorporating the latest security best practices.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on experience implementing and managing Continuous Delivery and/or DevOps solutions.
- Minimum of 5 years of practical experience working within an Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud infrastructure, with a strong understanding of core services including EC2, RDS, and S3. This experience should include provisioning, managing, and scaling these services in a production environment.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of demonstrated expertise in deploying and managing infrastructure as code using Terraform within the AWS environment. This includes in-depth experience managing IAM profiles and implementing security configurations using Terraform.
- Demonstrated experience in architecting and implementing CI/CD pipelines specifically for Data Engineering workflows, with a focus on frequently updated data pipelines handling multi-terabyte datasets. This includes experience with automation, testing, and monitoring of data pipelines.
- Strong proficiency in Git and GitHub Actions.
- Experience with orchestration tools such as Airflow or Dagster.
- Demonstrated excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to collaborate effectively, particularly with data engineering teams, on complex technical projects.
- Solid understanding of Agile methodologies (e.g., Scrum, Kanban) and related tools like JIRA.
- Fundamental system administration skills in both Windows and Linux environments.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 1-2 years of experience working with data warehousing and processing platforms such as Databricks and Snowflake.
- Strong proficiency in scripting languages relevant to data engineering and DevOps, such as Python and Bash.
- Advanced system administration skills in hybrid Linux and Windows server environments.
- Significant experience (multiple years) with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and related Big Data technologies relevant to data pipelines (e.g., EMR, Athena, Redshift, Kinesis, S3, Glue, Lake Formation).
- Proven track record of successfully running, monitoring, and maintaining live production data systems.
- Experience with infrastructure monitoring and logging tools (e.g., CloudWatch, CloudTrail, GuardDuty, Grafana).
- Experience with security best practices in a cloud environment for data platforms.
- Experience and interest in mentoring and training team members on DevOps methodologies and best practices for data engineering.
