CHRONOS™

As one of the largest repositories of healthcare data in the US, Forian’s hybrid data ecosystem, CHRONOS™, combines open and closed claims, electronic health records, and social determinants of health data into a single, integrated model. This hybrid design creates a singular, fit-for-multi-purpose asset that supports a wide range of analytic needs.

By connecting these sources, CHRONOS™ transforms fragmented datasets into a unified, research-ready resource. This hybrid approach leverages the strengths of multiple data types while minimizing any gaps, reducing the need to source and reconcile multiple datasets to serve different research objectives. CHRONOS™ empowers faster, more confident decision-making with high-quality, connected data that drives real-world evidence generation and meaningful insights.

Open Claims Data

Sourced from RCM companies, practice management systems, clearinghouses and switches, Forian’s open claims data in CHRONOS™ includes submit and remit medical claims (from both institutional and professional settings), and retail and specialty pharmacy claims from 2015 to today. While open claims data doesn’t capture the entirety of claims for a patient’s full medical history, it does offer a valuable perspective on patient care outside the confines of a specific health insurance plan or health system.

Open claims have a longer period of patient follow-up, less data lag, and a more frequent refresh cadence than any other claims sources. Open claims contain information about the medical billing process, such as diagnoses and treatments, reasons for claim rejection, prescription rebates or coupons used, patient payments, and provider details, including referring physicians.

Forian’s open claims data captures national and subnational data on:

Hybrid Real-World Data

A hybrid RWD model combines the strengths of each individual data source, while mitigating their limitations. Open claims provide insight into treatment patterns, disease incidence and prevalence, and support commercial targeting, market sizing, and patient profiling. Closed claims enable outcomes research, cost analysis, and evaluation of unmet needs and disease progression.

Combining open and closed claims data stabilizes longitudinal patient cohorts, reveals out-of-pocket and out-of-network care, and expands visibility into the full patient journey. Forian’s hybrid claims data captures national and subnational data on 370M+ patients and 100M+ hybrid patients (with both open and closed claims) and ~4 years of longitudinal follow up.

Social Determinants of Health (SDoH)

Forian’s SDoH data in CHRONOS™ includes demographics, socioeconomic factors, and purchasing behaviors of patients in both closed and open claims data. It expands traditional administrative RWD by incorporating patients’ race/ethnicity, occupation, education, marital status, family and household structure, household income, and purchasing behavior. This cross-sectional data offers insights into access to care and health behaviors not documented in a clinical setting.

EHR

Sourced from outpatient and ambulatory EHR companies, Forian’s EHR includes both structured and unstructured data inclusive of patient diagnosis, treatment, procedures, lab results, and vitals. Capturing data from 2015 to present day allows for unique and longitudinal record capture and integration into any patient journey or rare disease patient projects.
